Karate: Kata (Forms)

Rokushu

Rokushu means six varieties or variations (on the Sanchin theme). It is a famous form with its origins in China. Referred to as Tensho in Goju Ryu, it is considered to be one of the twin jewels in the crown of Goju Ryu Karate, the other being Sanchin.

However, the application of the restored Ko-do Ryu Rokushu, differs greatly from that practised by Goju Ryu. Using the simple appellation, 'Function Dictates Form', the Ko-do Ryu Rokushu instructs the practitioner in escaping from a variety of grips.
